- Mr. 倪孝勇 (Edward ni) and others from Taiwan: “My Classwork using English songs”
My words (from Edward):
We are looking for a rather joyful way of teaching and learning via singing the pop songs. Me and my partner find it fascinating and my (your) students hopefully will enjoy it.
“My Classwork using English song"――"Just the Way You Are " (Bruno Mars):

1.スライド5についての質問:
(奈良) she don’t think (doesn’t でなく)とするのはなぜ?
It’s so ………. to think that she don’t see what I see. (Why is “don’t" instead of “doesn’t" used here?). これは教師にとっても難しい。結局、 この答えは何ですか?→
(Edward先生) My assumption for using “don’t" instead of “doesn’t" have something to do the melody rhythm since a two-syllabus word “don’t" may fit better than a three-syllabus one according to the song.
2.スライド6: My Classwork 2 – Lyrics Composition。生徒に歌を英訳させて発表させるって難しくない?
(奈良) How long does it take them to complete the one-song composition? Can they do it during the specific classwork (50 minutes)? How do they react to the task? Do they really do it willingly ?→
(Edward先生) Of course it could not be done merely in the 50-minute class. The assignment takes students quite a long time after school and many efforts must be paid together as a group. They have about a week to finish the project. It is a demanding work but most of them like it.
3.1つの英語の歌についてどれくらいの授業数をかけるの?
(奈良)How many hours (each 50- minute unit) do you allocate on “one song-related classwork" ? Two hours or three hours or more?
(Edward先生) For one song classwork, I have two periods of class with 50 minutes for each. The first period is mainly on leading them to sing and understanding the lyrics. The second period is for them to practice and show on the stage.
