Teaching Global Issues: What, Why, and How
Recently we hear much about 'globalization' and 'the global village' and, in Japan, we are aware that we, too, have a role to play as global citizens because we know that global issues and environmental problems do not recognize national boundaries. But in order to participate in the international community we have to be able to communicate effectively in English. This means adapting our attitudes towards teaching and learning English. This lecture will demonstrate some ways in which we can face the challenges of teaching young learners about our world in a pedagogically appropriate way.
